DUO DESIGN / twrs

CONSTRUCTION SPOT VIXTON — Vinsta-Vallingby (eng. Walltown) Design City (pop. VIXI*) is one of Europe's biggest construction projects and building sites right now . The local district is one of the highest density high-rise building areas in Sweden (defining high-rise buildings as free standing ”proto skyskrapers” with >12 stores over ground) with about 20 high rise towers (Emporis, 2006), most of them placed out in a a layout of a close knit circle or garland surrounding the core centre of the new rising Design City.

DuoDesignTowers (DDT, name introduced now) in the Circle is a 12 store tower-pair at the crossing – Areway (aka Vixistreet) and Angermanna street (aka Wallstreet). I will present my vision of how DDT could be conected to the new fashion mall block/district constructed on the other side of the road, a complex of two buildings designed by Gert Wingardh of Wingardh Architecht House (the image above).

DDT could be connected to each other with a low entrance building in two stores (one half under ground), and the towers developed to a high status appartment hotel or highly attractive condons/residental appartemnts for young people, perhaps students in a possible future Design University College.

The facades could be prepared in a transissional manner from white to the orginal gray color verticaly. Tower 1 (man) white from top and tower 2 (woman) the reversed way. This represents an abstract ideography of the eastern representation of a concept of dualsim and man/woman (Yin/Yang) toghether in unity, both equal. Circled chinese ideographs for male and woman could be lit and transfered on to the facades by OLED lightning from the ground at night.

At the corners there could be vertical banners in Vixton-profile-red maybe with firmly designed addvertisements on a base of metal constructions, inspired by the buildings of mega city Tokyo. A graphic presentation of the concept is on the way.

70 fashion shops will be localized in the new fashion blocks. Fashion is the key factor driving customers to new shoping malls according to a spokes person at the centers marketing company Ruth.

* Vixi also have the meaning ”I have lived” in the latin language, often used in a biography when looking back to a completed life.
